Luang Prabang, located in the confluence area of Nankang River and Mekong River, is the famous ancient city and Buddhist center of Laos, also the capital of Luang Prabang Province. As a city of must-go by many tourists who go to Laos and one of World Culture Heritage cities, Luang Probang is abundant in the temples and beautiful sceneries and what’s most important is that it remains the original customs. This city holds many attractions such as Wat Xieng Thong, Kuang Si Waterfall, Royal Palace Museum, Mount Phousi and so on.
Kuang Si Waterfall
Kuang Si Waterfall is very worth of a visit. As the change of season, it possesses different beauty. Multi lays of water straightly fall from the limestone down to the bottom. The most exciting activity is rope diving. In the bottom, there is a park where you can plan a picnic lunch. And there is also a paddock where some brown beers and tigers are kept. Departure in the afternoon, you can spend an hour taking the boat which floating downstream and then take the Tuktuk to see the waterfall.
Vang Vieng is a famour tourist city, having long been enjoyed the reputation as the “small Guilin” (Guilin is a world-known tourist attraction of China, famous for its extremely breathtaking sceneries). This city possesses grotesque karst landscapes and along the river besides the city spreads a variety of fabulous karst caves, which is absolutely the highlight of it. Bawu Grottoes actually contains two caves: Tham Jang Cave and Tham Phu Kham. Inside the caves, there is filled with a variety of styles of large and small Buddha, and the Buddha is the classic Luang Prabang standing Buddha. To see clear, you need a lamp, which you can bring it yourself or rent one. You are advised to leave at 7 am. It takes two hours to take boat.
When you first come to Vientiane, you would be astonished how it looks like, totally different from the modern metropolis, making you cannot believe it’s the capital of Laos. However, this mini city can soon make you feel characteristics and uniqueness of this country. With lush vegetation and friendly people, the Wat That Luang shinning under the sun, the mysterious Shiweng Plain in the north and ancient stone temple in the south, all attracts and fascinates you again and again. Champasak is situated in the very south of Laos. Champasak is the right place for you to fully enjoy the quietness, the peace, the mountains and waters, the tresses and the nature. Line 1: Start from Luang Prabang, the classic Laos 8-days tour
In the first day, when you arrive in the town of Luang Prabang, you are suggested to hang around a little in the town and find a comfortable guesthouse to unpack yourself and take a rest. Then at night, you can go out to experience the night of the city. It would be more interesting to find some place with food stalls and to taste the local flavor.
Then for the next day, you can follow the order as follows to visit the city: Phousi Market – Royal Palace Museum – Wat Mai – Wat Wisunalat – Wat Xieng Thong So staring from the lively market, then all kinds of temples such Wat Mai, Wat Wisunalat and so on. Then at sunset, you can appreciate the most beautiful “Life Tree” in the temple Wat Xieng Thong. As it is said before, Luang Prabang is not a big city, so spread of attractions makes it easy for you to get from one spot to another only by walking. For those attractions located a little far, taking Turtuk would be a good choice.
For third day’s itinerary can be arranged in the suburbs for the adventure in karst cave and waterfall diving. Bawu Grottoes and Kuang Si Waterfall both locate in the outside the city, so you can go there by boat or by Tuktuk.
For Day 4, orders are: Alms giving in the morning – Wat Xieng Muan – Talat Dara – Mount Phousi. So as you can see today’s schedule is mainly focused on the morning and night. In the morning, you can watch the alms giving conducted by monks and at dusk you can climb up to the mount Phousi and appreciate the sunset, after that, you can hang around the bustling night. For the rest time, you can visit the other temples or go shopping in the Wat Xieng Muan, a very famous indoor market in Laos. Because of the French colonial, Laos has a lot of very authentic French restaurant, if you have time, you can consider a big French meal.
For the fifth day, you go to Vang Vieng. Getting up early to the bus station in southwest of Luang Prabang, your next destination Vang Vieng takes about 7 hours to get there. Once you arrive in here, you should find a hotel to settle down and then take a look around to feel the charm of this city.
For the Day 6, what you can do in Vang Vieng is the most popular outdoor activities. So today is a one-day outdoor tour. In the morning, you can appreciate the whole view of Vang Vieng by hot-air ballon; while after lunch, you can experience the exciting ativity – kayaking.
The Day 7 orders are: Patuxay – Wat That Luang – Xieng Khuan – Wat Si Muang – Haw Pha Kaew – Wat Si Saket. In the morning, you should go to the Vang Vieng bus station to take the bus to your next destination – Vientiane, which needs about 4 hours. When you arrive in Vientiane, you can firstly visit the most famous spots: Patuxay and Wat That Luang. After that, you can watch some famous temples of locals’.
For the last day you visit Buddha Park, then the National Museum and the President House, finallyt, the Wattay International Airport.
Line 2: The 7-days in-depth travel in the south part of Laos
Beginning from Vientiane, all the way to south, you will firstly arrive in the Thakhek, a city in the middle of the land. The whole journey might take 6 hours. As a port city, Thakhek is located beside the Mekong River, with many Chinese and Western buildings standing along the river. This city is a newly developing place for adventure travel. Then leaving Thakhek for Savannakhet, you would spend 2 to 3 hours to get there by car. Savannakhet is the capital of Savannakhet province, Laos, and also the largest trade and administration center. Laos’ three national protected areas are in this area, so for the in-depth travel, this city should never be missed. Next stop is Pakse, which is the capital of the Champasak Province. Almost every tourist who travels to southern Laos will firstly come too Pakse. It holds more than 20 small temps. So after unpack, you can go around and have a look.
Next day you go to visit the world cultural heritage – Wat Phu Champasak. You can take the bus in Pakse, which take around 1 to 2 hours. Next day you can take the bus in the south station to Si Phan Don. The journey is going to cost 3 to 4 hours and the bus stops at Meng Kong Village in Don Khong.
